Libélula sits within a large area of Costa Rican rainforest, surrounded by rivers, waterfalls, mountains and an extraordinary amount of life.
Much of the land is primary rainforest that we are committed to protecting. We built in existing open areas rather than cutting into the forest, allowing the trees, plants and wildlife to remain part of everyday life here.
There are more than ten waterfalls across the land and two rivers flowing through it, with paths leading into different parts of the jungle. Some areas are deep enough to swim and even dive into, while others are simply places to sit, listen and watch the forest around you.
The rainforest is home to an incredible variety of life, and you don’t have to go far to find it.
Hummingbirds move between the flowers, butterflies fill the gardens, dragonflies gather around the pools, and birdsong is part of the soundtrack of everyday life.
We’ve planted flowers and trees with wildlife in mind, creating more places for birds, butterflies and other species to feed and shelter.

Multiple rivers run through the land, with more than ten waterfalls along their paths.
Some are quiet places to sit beneath the trees, while others form natural swimming holes where we can cool off and explore.
During retreats, guests can walk with us through the rainforest and discover some of these places for themselves.

Our gardens are always growing.
We’re developing permaculture gardens around Libélula with the aim of growing more of the food we use here ourselves. Much of the food served during retreats will come from the land, alongside organic and locally sourced ingredients.
Growing food here isn’t only about what ends up on the plate. It’s about learning to live more closely with the land and creating something that can continue to grow with Libélula.

There are paths throughout the land, connecting the different spaces and leading deeper into the rainforest.
Somewhere along the way you’ll find a waterfall, a swimming hole, a view, a flowering tree or a place you hadn’t noticed before.
There’s no need to rush through it.
Walk slowly.
See what you find.
